Institutional Context

Founded around 1960, Universitas Jambi started its education with the Akademi Perniagaan Djambiunder theJajasan Perguruan Tinggi Djambi,intending to elevate human resources in the field of business/commerce (now known as entrepreneurship). In 1963, this academy was changed into a university and today well known Universitas Jambi (Unja). Now, Unja has developed and has seven faculties (Faculty of Law, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Economy and Business, Faculty of Animal Science, Faculty of and Technology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Science) and 1 Postgraduate with in total 92 study programs.

Establishing the vision of “be a world-class entrepreneurship university,” Universitas Jambi bring back the glory of Universitas Jambi in business/commerce. The vision is embodied through strategic plans and milestones operated into five achievement targets (Universitas Jambi SMART): Student Achievement, Management Transformation, Academic Reputation, Relevance in Work Graduated, and Technology Digital Transformation.

The mission of Universitas Jambi is to provide access to education for people and implement high-quality higher education. This mission is embodied by strengthening digital services and improving the quality of education that focuses on Jambi province’s local potential. Therefore, the university established a center of excellence focusing on agro-industry and the environment. Furthermore, the university leaders have been strengthening innovations supported by good governance university and concrete steps in implementing the tri dharma of higher education.

Referring to the university’s vision, the Faculty of Law Universitas Jambi develops a vision “Being a World Class Faculty of Law Based on Natural Resources and Entrepreneurship Values”. This vision is implemented in 6 (six) study programs: Doctor in Law Study Program, Master in Law Study Program, Master in Law for Notary Program, Bachelor in Law Study Program, Bachelor in Political Science Study Program, and Bachelor in Governmental Studies.

The Department of Social and Political Science has been implementing the faculty vision with a commitment to international reputation reflected in curriculum design, cooperation, and academic mobility to achieve learning outcomes. The department has 2 (two) study programs, Political Science and Government studies. Since 2020, the two study programs have been accredited “B” by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT).
